Future Dog Trainers

Different people opt to spend their time of leisure in life enjoyably in different ways. There are many people who spend their spare time by assisting dog owners in becoming more responsible in the caring and training of these animals and this number is growing day by day.

Throughout the world, mainly in US and UK, tens of hundreds of dog training clubs exist at present and new clubs are coming up all the time. Every week the dog owners go to such clubs for one or two days in the evening and educate themselves by participating in the training for senior, intermediate or elementary grades. The classes normally are conducted at fixed times and most of the dog owners prefer to sit and watch their inexperienced or highly experienced colleagues going through the paces.

These dog enthusiasts are a dedicated lot and are highly responsible; they are working enthusiastically to inculcate the similar sense of responsibility to other pet owners and prove to them in practice that a dog well trained will remain happy and will not become a menace to others.

Beginners are made to understand how they can train their dogs the techniques of walking at “heel”, to “sit”, to “come” and to “stay”. On the other hand seniors learn tougher exercises such as discrimination of scent, carrying dumbbells etc; on weekends they go for competitive obedience trials and finally they venture to compete in the obedience championship contests conducted annually.

People from all age groups attend the dog training classes for their own reasons; there are people who attend the dog training classes because they feel that it gives the whole family a good night outing whereas some believe that this gives them an opportunity to meet their special ones. However all of them attend the classes because they are proud of their dogs and they want to do as much good as possible for their pets thereby getting maximum pleasure in owning the pet.

Who Instructs?

You might like to know about the instructors in these training clubs and their own educational qualifications. In many clubs you will find that the instructors come up by working through the ranks; during this period of working they develop their own skills and gain the experience at the club. Nowadays the clubs are getting affiliated to nonprofit organizations such as National Dog Owner’s Association founded in the year 1953.

The pet courses give the family dog an opportunity to learn manners and the dog owners and their families a holiday during which they learn more about the welfare of their dog; these have been found to be “fun” courses. If you get yourself enrolled for the dog trainers course you are in for a week of hard working. In this course you not only will learn to train your dog but also to train people for training their dogs.

One of the main activities of such organizations is to conduct residential holiday courses every year for pet owners; they also conduct instructor’s courses for intensive dog obedience training wherein the dogs or candidates with their dogs are permitted to participate and qualify for various international grades; the dogs are mostly sponsored by the training club in various localities.

Tips From the Certified Dog Trainer

Yesterday was the third puppy social Simon and I attended. We both gain from these events. He socializes and I learn from the class leader who’s a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She held an informal mini-class for the owners.

Here’s the tips I picked up from the certified dog trainer:

Instant Down Command
You want your pup to lie down without a hand signal.

This command may require a lot of repetition before the desired result is achieved. And if you screw up and don’t do it right, the pup will be confused and it’ll take even longer to get it right.

Say the word Down a second BEFORE you lure the dog into a down. Saying Down as you lure doesn’t work because the pup won’t pay attention to your voice command.

Training Food
I’m using hotdogs as training treats. Problem is – Alvin (Simon’s brother) and Simon are refusing their normal meals of kibbles – they expect hotdogs at meal time.

The trainer’s comment was a simple “They won’t starve themselves. They’ll learn that meal time doesn’t include hotdogs.” In other words, don’t worry about it!

She suggested small pieces of chicken or the dog’s favorite treat if hotdogs are becoming the overall food of choice.

Train Stay and Come As Separate Commands
I got into the habit as requesting a Stay followed by a Come. I noticed the dogs’ anticipation of Come after a Stay. They both start moving to the expected reward.

These two commands should NOT be coupled to avoid the reaction I noticed.

When you need some dog training housebreaking you start by training your dog a few basic instructions. This basic instructions will make your dog easier to train. You can also start looking around for dog obedience training near at your location so you can discuss some program that suit for your dog.

In dog training puppy you can always ask everything you need to know before you choose your dog training schools.

Lesson Learned
Each of these training tweaks are incorporated into the do-it-yourself DVD and Dog Training Guide I’ve been referencing. There is so many product in this site for you to start training your dog.

When you’re do-it-yourself training, you need to remind yourself of the step-by-step procedures AND listen or read the material just before you use a command.

dog obedience training?

are there any schools in the area of louisville ky or bowling green ky that offers training to become a certified dog obedience trainer? or does anyone know if the online courses are legit? I am interested in doing work to train police and personal protection dogs. If anyone has any advice on how to do this please share your info . thanks!

Here’s what my research found. The “best” national organization is the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, (APDT). They are a professional organization of individual trainers who – in their own words – are committed to becoming better trainers through education. They have created a certification process. Here is a link to that……also there appears to be 7 different organizations that are considered “legit”.

Welcome to the web site of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). The CCPDT is an international testing and certification program for professional pet dog trainers.

Dog Obedience Trainer

One of dog obedience trainer jobs is knowing how can one gain power over an unruly dog and turn it into a passive, do anything for you dog. I will admit there is a certain amount of patience and attitude required when working with a dog that shows aggression. It was believed at one time that a person had to have a special gift to train dogs to be obedient. Well this is not true. A dog is by most accounts a placid animal, but like all animals they should be treated with respect. They do not like surprises sprung on them, like when a child jumps at it face on, or if someone plays too roughly with it, or attempts to approach it with two hands aiming at it’s face. If one tries to show affection in any of these ways the dog will become defensive and frightened and will naturally want to defend itself.

When a dog is on a lead he feels vulnerable and is a little bit more edgy. You will notice this when they see another dog approaching, straight away the dog will begin a defensive positioning which, more than likely will be to get closer to you by moving behind you. He is telling you that he is not comfortable with this dogs approach and wants you to help protect him. This is where training comes into play. As a dog obedience trainer this is the time when you take a commanding role and show him that you will not let this other dog attack him. You do this by showing firmness to both dogs. You let them know it is you who are in control of the situation and are ready for anything. Once both dogs are assured then you will find there will be no altercation.

Like I have said previously, it is not terribly difficult to train a dog. Dog obedience trainers use certain techniques and tones, they also use a certain look to show the dog that they really mean business and will not tolerate any aggression. They will also use a little reward system for every time the dog does what he is told they will reward it with either a little tasty morsel, or with a soft assuring tone as he speaks to the dog. There are myriads of dog training books and dog training DVD out there explaining what type of approach to take when training your dog. I would advise everyone who wants to train their dog to go the E Book route. This method is by far the best way of learning how to become master over your dog. Start teaching your dog obedience training now and you will see he has a whole different personality.. and is only willing to please you.

There is nothing like having a pet. Particularly dogs, they are the most loyal and trusting animal of all other animals, in my opinion. They sit half sleeping, and half awake, just waiting for you to make a move, and once you get out of your chair or put on your walking shoes and coat, they are up and ready to go. They can be excellent guard dogs, and many a life has been saved when they barked to warn the occupants that there is a fire in the house. Then of course there are the dogs for the blind that was train by special guide dog trainer , what an amazing role in society they perform. As a dog obedience trainer maybe you need to consider dog training certification.
